Peru Dengue Fever Outbreak


History’s deadly largest outbreak of dengue fever is going on in Peru. According to a news channel, more than 130,000 infections cases were reported, while another newspaper reported 200,000 cases and more than 200 casualties.

The northern Peruvian city of Piura is the epicenter of this deadly dengue virus because more than 40000 cases and more than 60 deaths have been reported until this news. It may get intense in the coming days because of the rains due to the hot weather.

It is reported that due to the El Nino climate phenomenon, rain starts that grow the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, becoming the mean of transmission of the dengue virus among the people increasing the death toll worst not happened in history.

Aedes aegypti mosquito transmits dengue fever among people with the symptoms of dengue disease, including a high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pain, and if not treated in time, then sometimes death.

It is declared in a news conference by Raman Velayudhan, a leader of the WHO program on neglected tropical diseases, that climate change, including precipitation, rain, higher temperature, and humidity, all are favorable for the mosquito population, ultimately, the dengue virus.

According to the daily express US, the last intense El Niño climate change happened in 2016, and the world saw its hottest consequences, present on the record.

The United States (US) organization, i.e., National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), has declared that the El Niño climate change pattern is underway after the past three years. This year is worrying like the last strong El Niño when the world witnessed a historic hottest year in 2016.

Scientists say this year looks particularly worrying.
